You will be using this resource throughout high school and will later attach it to your College Board account for a personalized experience. Your Khan Academy experience today will be focused on Reading and Writing.
In Khan Academy click on COURSES, click on SAT, click on PRACTICE, click on Reading and Writing, and choose three different practices in the Grammar and Effective Language Use Section. (Please note that if this is your first time using Khan Academy, you’ll be required to complete a handful of diagnostic tests. If that is the case for you, please complete your diagnostics over your three days of learning this week.)

FreeRice is an online game in which you answer questions to fill up your bowl of rice; every correct question answered actually provides rice to someone in need. FreeRice has an English grammar mode that is very useful; you’ll pick the grammatically correct sentence and move through progressively harder levels as you keep choosing the right answer. Click here for some math drills that may help you on the SAT. This site has a variety of easy, educational flash games for pre-K through 12th grade. The math page has games for probability, algebra, geometry, and several other topics that appear on the SAT. This is a dependable resource if you find yourself getting stuck on a particular concept in math, and you need to drill recall in a non-boring way.
Today’s Math Activity
Click here for a Water Park activity. Once you open the document please make a copy for yourself. This project is designed to assess your proficiency with linear equations. You must design a water park on a coordinate plane, identify points, calculate slope, write equations, solve for midpoint, and use the distance formula. As an added bonus you can explain your results in a reflection paper (if you’d like).

Write a response to a news article, a social media post, a text message, or a comment you’ve heard, read, or seen about the recent protests. Do you agree with it or disagree with it, and why? What questions do you have? What emotions or thoughts does it bring up for you?

With a free account on Quizlet, you can access thousands of flashcard sets that others have uploaded to the site, including a variety of SAT prep sets. Of course, you’ll want to check out a set before you use it to study to make sure it actually has useful (and correct) information. What’s even better is that you can make a set yourself with the things you really need to drill down on. Once you make or choose a set, you can play with it in two game modes. There’s a matching game and a game where you prevent asteroids from hitting the planet by typing the correct answer.
